2020 Pinnacle Group Academic WorldQuest

Updated: Nov 13, 2020

World Affairs Councils across the United States host Academic WorldQuest competitions each year for high school students. This year, the 2020 Pinnacle Group Academic WorldQuest competition was held at the University of Texas at Arlington in Arlington, Texas. During this riveting competition, a group of students from Plano West Senior High School emerged victorious over nearly 80 north Texas area teams.

We would like to congratulate the winners of Academic WorldQuest. Plano West High School finished in first place and will travel to Washington D.C. to compete in the national competition that is hosted by the U.S. Institute of Peace on April 25. Plano Senior High School and Allen High School placed in second and third place respectively. For the past 11 years, students from Plano ISD have won our Council's Academic WorldQuest. The competition requires students to answer 100 questions from various topics including current events, history, geography, and international policy. This competition demonstrates the commitment and dedication that students participating in this competition have towards global knowledge as teams often study for up to five months prior to the date of the competition.

We would like to thank our sponsors for this event. Thank you to the University of Texas at Arlington for generously hosting us at the Maverick Activities Center. Thank you to Pinnacle Group for sponsoring the program. Thank you to Pollo Campero for sponsoring lunch for the event. As always, we cannot wait until next year’s competition and hope to see everyone there!
