Fall 2020 Intern Spotlight: Nidaa Lafi

Being a programs intern at the World Affairs Council of Dallas/Fort Worth this fall has been one of the most fulfilling experiences that I have had the opportunity to be involved in.

For the past few months, I have had the chance to work behind the scenes with the programs department at the council, mainly preparing briefing books for CEO & President Jim Falk as well as other event moderators. I have also enjoyed working on opening remarks and attending many of the Council’s events this semester.

From Ambassadors to world-renowned journalists, the Council always has the most intriguing and informative event programs. I specifically enjoyed preparing the brief book on Clarissa Ward and attending the event afterward as I learned so much about her work in Syria and the Arab spring.

Outside of the Council, I am a sophomore at the University of Texas at Dallas pursuing a double-major in Global Business and International Political Economy. I plan on attending law school post-graduation and hopefully working for an NGO one day. This internship has exposed me to many people that work within my field of interest and has also helped me narrow down the opportunities I wish to seek in the future. I look forward to always staying involved with the Council, even after this internship ends.
