I hope everyone is settling into a new, albeit strange, school year. Here at The Dallas Morning News, we know it must be an especially difficult time to be a student reporter or journalism advisor.
With that in mind, we're excited to continue to offer our free virtual training programs for student journalists across North Texas. We hope you and your students will join us for the following three programs this fall, and stay tuned for more in the spring.
Covering COVID-19: Oct. 15, 2020, 5-6:30 p.m. — Join DMN reporters for a workshop on covering COVID-19. We'll discuss how to find sources and stories from a distance, staying safe while on assignment and how we're all adapting to doing journalism virtually.
A conversation with the editor: Oct. 29, 5-6:30 p.m. — Join DMN managing editor Keith Campbell for a workshop on newsroom leadership and what it takes to run a team. He'll take your questions and address the challenges you face in running a newsroom.
Covering social justice movements: Dec. 3, 5-6:30 p.m. — Join DMN reporters for a workshop on covering social justice movements. We'll discuss how to cover these issues fairly, staying safe while covering protests and how to find great story ideas in your own communities.
Register for each by clicking the links above. We'll send a Zoom link out before each session, as well as reminder emails for everyone. We do have a cap on the number of people who can join our Zoom calls at once time, so it will be first-come, first-served for those who log into the Zoom call the day of the workshop.
